Discipleship |
|
Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
- We believe the Church is responsible for forming its new generations of disciples.
- We believe the Church is responsible for continuing to form and equip its disciples for ministry throughout their lives.
- We believe formation for discipleship is a cognitive, relational, spiritual, and experiential process to which all God's people are called.
“Discipling” is:
- Training — transmitting specific bodies of content in planned settings
- Mentoring — interpersonal relationships that teach
- Nurturing — working to promote growth among the physically and spiritually “young”
- Modeling — living out our values so as to encourage others
- Equipping — providing training and resources specifically for members to develop their ministries
