Faith Feeds
Faith Feeds seeks to alleviate hunger in Kentucky through provision of fresh fruit and vegetables to people who are hungry. This mission is to be achieved by: (1) Gleaning produce for distribution to hunger ministries, and encouraging others to donate a portion of food they grow to such ministries; (2) Participating in “community kitchen” events to preserve excess produce for later use; (3) Initiating and maintaining gardens on urban in-fill; and (4) Teaching people how to grow food. Learn more at www.faithfeedslex.org. Like us on Facebook to learn of upcoming events – www.facebook.com\FaithFeeds .
You can volunteer to help in many ways.
1. Sign up for times to glean the farmers markets May – November [weekdays, early afternoon].
2. Sign up to glean the orchards July – November [usually weekday mornings]. Orchard gleaning is kid friendly and we welcome parents with children.
3. Help process and preserve food during our community kitchen events [various times] .
4. Assist in building and maintaining urban Friendship Gardens.
5. Assist with our annual heirloom seed sales [Feb – April]
6. Donate business talents useful to non-profits, such as, grant writing, fundraising, marketing, publications, etc.
If you are passionate about ending hunger in our community, and want to be involved more closely, please contact us to consider joining our board or liaisons and help us reach our goal.
