December 7 Advent Devotion Written by Claudia Hall

Trisha Huffman | December 7, 2015

The scriptures that were chosen for my Advent Devotional were Psalm 126, Isaiah 40:1-11, and Romans 8:22-25. While reading through the scriptures, I began to see a common thread as we almost always do when we read and study the Bible. The words joy, hope, and comfort seemed to be the focus. “The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.” “The rough ground shall become level.” “Hope that is seen is no hope at all, who hopes for what he already has”? Throughout the scriptures we see that the Lord has done great things for us, we see that we will experience rough ground, and we see that there is always, always, hope.

The season of Advent affords us the opportunity to begin our experience of Jesus Christ each year. By taking time each day in devotion and prayer, the Holy Spirit can shape and mold us into people more and more like Jesus; then we can become a community that experiences Jesus’ heart of mercy, compassion, and justice. Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again!

Prayer: We pray so humbly: As we journey through the Advent of expectation and preparation, help us to stop often to reflect and connect with God in prayer.
