One of the things we miss about our “normal” lives is travel. As we dream and think about traveling again, Central Baptist Church will offer a new Zoom series – Central Travels. Join host Gwen Hart as we trek to 4 continents with Central members who have traveled to those locations. You will see photos from the trips, share some travel planning tips in areas such as transportation, accommodations, safety, currency and exchange rates, budgeting and health considerations. This time, we'll hear from Linda Hopgood McCubbin on her travels to Germany and Eastern Europe.
Linda is a lawyer by trade but an adventurer in spirit. She is the mother of two kids who indulge her in dragging them along on explorations. Hiking, camping, traveling, exercising and artistic pursuits are her passion. She loves to entertain in her home (pre-Covid) and has been a member of Central twice (1979-1993; 2007-present).
“Germany - Traveled extensively in the southeastern area and then into Poland and Eastern Europe. I am a WWII buff and travelled this area with this in mind.”
Gwen has made a career of helping others have fun in her 38.5 years of working events in some capacity for Marriott. She retired last March, just in time before the proverbial you know what hit the fan for the hospitality industry and she says “Oh, the stories I could tell, but I digress. Retirement suits me! I have stayed really busy! Working always did get in the way of my social life. I love spending time with family and friends. As for travelling, I absolutely love the beach and even in COVID, I did get there on occasion...carefully and safely.”
“With all of my experiences over the years, I have collected great material for comedy relief and use as I see fit. Like I always say: If you can't be smart, be funny!”
