Shoe boxes for Eastern Kentucky

Charles Conkin | December 6, 2015

For 2015 Kentucky Baptist Fellowship partnered with CBF's Together for Hope to offer Shoeboxes for Appalachia - gifts for children in need who live in the poorest counties of Eastern Kentucky.

When the CBC staff was approached about adding this ministry to the list of proposed missions, we were delighted.  It offers a  meaningful impact on the lives of kids and families right here in Kentucky.  Believing that we could provide 10-12 boxes for this ministry, we committed to the program (promising 12 boxes).
On the first Sunday of Advent, members of Central brought more than 20 shoeboxes!  The children gathered the gifts and placed them on the chancel during our worship as a physical act of offering our gifts for God's glory.  By Wednesday we had additional boxes and supplies.  Together for Hope coordinator Scarlet Jasper was amazed as my family and I packed her car with the generous gift boxes from CBC!

Because of the loving generosity of our church family, Together for Hope was able to reach over 30 additional families in McCreary County, KY with gifts.  What an amazing testimony of hope!  My heart was overjoyed - and humbled - at the beautiful outpouring of love from our church.  THANK YOU for offering, in the name of Jesus, a ray of hope to our neighbors.
