I would like to invite you to read with me Parker J. Palmer’s A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey Toward an Undivided Life. While we are normally concerned with the problems and challenges of the outward life, few resources help us focus on an equally and vitally important priority by seeking to look within. I find this book rightly pinpoints much of our difficulty in living worried, anxious, stressful and often unfulfilled lives as a divided inner self that is uneasy on how to live authentically in healthy community with others. I am particularity drawn to the idea of first dealing with the brokenness we find in ourselves before we are ready to deal with the flaws we can identify in the world around us.
This book will also be an excellent preparation as we look forward to the season of Lent. By spending time in these pages, I pray you are encouraged to discover ways to honor the sacredness of the soul and inner light that is within you and in one another. If you let me know you are reading with us, I will send out a few reflection questions each week before our one time Zoom meeting at the end of month for discussion. Of course, you are welcome to read it on your own and you don’t need to be on the early sign up list to participate in the end of the month discussion. I look forward to our taking this journey together.
