A Sunday for love, empathy, and concern for our state and world.

This Sunday we recognize World Communion Sunday.  We will welcome and hear greetings from Dr. Rhonda Abbott Blevins, the new Coordinator for the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship.  We will watch a special slide show to help us pray for the needs of our nation and world.  And we will celebrate the mystery and power of communion in our community of faith.

The sermon focuses on two passages: Mark 2:1-12 and James 5:13-16.  Both passages reveal an important lesson concerning our spiritual maturity.   While our Baptist tradition emphasizes a deep, personal and vibrant relationship with God, it should not lead (though it often does) to a privatized, hyper-individualized and secluded relationship with others.  Baptists honor the power and the integrity of a person's conscience in deciding matters of faith and practice.  In preparation, read these passages and discover how we are called to become priests for one another, as much as we have also been priests to ourselves.
