Annual Alliance of Baptists Gathering marks 30th Anniversary
This year marks the Alliance of Baptists' 30th anniversary. At this gathering, we will celebrate the good work of the Alliance in the world, while embracing ever more deeply, the challenging work of justice and love ahead of us. Collaborating with our host church Pullen Memorial Baptist Church and its annual Finlator Lecture in Faith and Social Justice series, we welcome William Barber as one of our featured proclaimers.
As we gather as Alliance of Baptists at Pullen, we will practice some good old Baptist dissent. We gather to proclaim the truth of God's love for all people and to stand against the proliferation of unjust policies coming out of Washington, D.C., and to denounce that while HB-2 may have been repealed to appease monied interests, it does nothing to address the discrimination and harm directed at LGBTQIA people. We invite you to join a protest and press conference on Friday, April 28 at 12p.m. on the steps of Pullen as part of our Gathering. We will hear from William Barber, Nancy Petty, Ben Boswell, Maria Swearingen and Mike Castle.
Anniversary Celebration. Please join us immediately following Friday evening worship at the banquet hall across the street from Pullen Baptist Church for an evening of food, fellowship and foot-stomping! The evening will include a special program of recognition for people and events that have shaped the Alliance over the past 30 years. Come and let's celebrate this milestone together!
