Rachel Smith Childress grew up as a “preacher’s kid”, primarily in Louisville, Ky. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky. Her graduate work was done at Lexington Theological Seminary where she earned an MA and did some post degree work. After working in the public sector, private sector and higher education, Rachel began her ministry at Lexington Habitat for Humanity in 2006 where she is the CEO.
She and her late husband, Bazz, began attending CBC regularly in 1979. Their daughters, Julianna and Delaney, grew up here. The family now includes one son-in-law (Mark), one daughter-in-law (Alex), one granddaughter (Claire) and two grand dogs. They all live in the greater Nashville area..
