We are gladly aware of the many things we associate with the name of Jesus and his role in our lives. He is "Lord, Savior, Christ, Rabbi, Messiah, Immanuel: One with God; Friend, Guide, Teacher and the list can go on and on. This week, we remember the early part of Jesus' ministry found in the gospel of Mark, the earliest of the written accounts of Jesus life. It is here we encounter Jesus, first and foremost as a "healer." He has authority to discern evil and offers command over its influence before a greater wholeness can be revealed. This sobering reality is painful, but a necessary step toward redemption. Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the good news that loves us just the way we are, and even more deeply, into the future of who we are still yet becoming.
