Hallelujah! Christ is Risen! These are the glad and revolutionary words of good news we proclaim each Easter. Darkness has fled, sin has been conquered and death forever defeated. This bedrock affirmation is the foundation of our faith. Nothing on heaven or earth, not even death can separate us from the love of God. But are these assurances only revelatory at the moment of our personal death, or are they realities that can offer us hope, purpose, and joy in the here and now? This week we conclude our series of the good news proclaimers in the Gospel of John, all women who lead us into fresh and transforming experiences of God. In preparation, read John 20:1-18 and listen afresh to Mary Magdalene. Allow her witness of this surprising and credible encounter draw you closer to the LORD who also calls you by name and invites you to inherit his promises, even while challenged by the demands of our own worries, doubts, and struggles. Return with her to the tomb and may you discover the renewing and eternal power of our faith. Hallelujah! Christ is Risen!
